I spend WAYY too much time on TikTok. I am deep into BookTok and get book recommendations all day long.
But the other day, I got about five videos from Analeigh Ford, an author of a new book called A Veil of Truth and Trickery.
I have pre ordered this book because it seem like it is going to be so good!
Here is the cover:
How beautiful is it?
I cannot wait to add this to my shelf.
This is the synopsis:
“Delphine has been fae-marked from birth, treated as a curse despite the fact the once treacherous fae haven’t been sighted in decades—in fact, no one in Delph’s village has laid eyes on one of the folk in nearly a century.
Right up until a fae turns up on her doorstep, demanding Delph as down payment.
No sooner has she set foot in the fae realm, however, then she learns she’s no mere collateral in a deal made with the lord that owns her family lands. She was selected for a reason, hunted down for a single purpose.
The fae courts are fading. The folk disappearing.
Only four courts remain. Four princes determined to save their crumbling kingdoms.
And Delph … Delph may just hold the key to save them all.
But even as Delph learns to see past the feared glamour of the fae realm, she quickly learns the impossible position she’s found herself in. The fae may not be the monsters she was led to believe, but in order to save them … she may have to become a monster herself.”-Reverse Harem Author Website
It seems really entertaining.
I think that it is similar to Sarah J. Maas’ ACOTAR series. But it will be interesting to see the differences.
I preordered using this link and I got the signed hardcover. When you buy the signed hardcover, you also get the eBook format a few days before the hardcover goes out.
I am usually not good at keeping track of books coming out but this I am ready for.
Cant wait to see what you made Analeigh Ford! (Here is the link to her TikTok where she posts really fun videos on it!)

My Review:
“Sometimes love and chaos are the same thing.”
Chick-lits are my not-so-guilty-guilty pleasure. I am obsessed with them. I don’t understand how some people don’t like them. I get that they are cheesy and stuff but like this one a lot of them have some twist or suspense that keeps you thrilled the entire way through. These stories and any book with any sort of romance I love. I am a hopeless romantic. I love to swoon. I love to see a chase between the guy and the girl, forbidden loves (like this book), I love to see love triangles, etc.
This book has left my jaw on the floor. Until you read this book you will not understand how amazing it is. I can do it no justice.
Side note: I realize my beginnings to my blogs are always very similar because I never know how to start these so they end up sounding exactly the same.
So to get into this blog, my first major talking point is about the stories exhilarating plot. It starts of super mysterious with its prologue. In the beginning an unnamed girl is falling from the thousandth floor of the building. This creates so much suspense going into the story because you are captivated and the questions who and why ringing through you during the book. The entire book I made guesses as to who and why and let me just say it is completely unexpected. I like these beginnings because it always foreshadows the ending. The rest of the book starts off fairly normal. The characters are just about to go back to school, one is coming back from rehab, another is struggling with he fact that she loves her brother, you know, normal teenager lives.
If you like Gossip Girl you are really gonna like this book. About a month before I read this book I had finally finished Gossip Girl and as I always feel after finishing a TV series or a book or anything I felt sad and had a lull in my reading and Netflix watching activity. So when I started to read this I got very excited about how similar it was. I was overjoyed. I am all about those cheesy chick-lit novels that is full of glamour and everyone secretly hates everyone even if they don’t know it.
Anyways I really loved the way this story went. I really thought the Sci-Fi element of it where people basically just live in this one tower in New York was a very interesting twist to the normal teenage socialite story. The world that McGee built is exciting and I cannot wait to read the next book, Dazzling Heights, and to dive into the world again. The technology this world has is extremely satisfying. The author does well to show you what things look like and how they are used. I have read some books where the technology just has some holes in its function.
The characters were all very basic in these types of stories but they had some nice spins to them. You had Avery who was genetically modified to be perfect and lived with her family on the thousandth floor. Leda was another rich socialite who was addicted to drugs. Eris’s mother cheated on her father and lied about it for eighteen years until her unbiological father found out with a genetic test. Rylin the low life girl who gets a job working for a guy she knew a long time ago near the top floor introducing her to the glam life. And then there is Wyatt who has an illegal gadget in his brain so he knows everyone and everything. The five different perspectives we get in the book help you dive more into the world and learn about their world more efficiently. With people from the lower floors and the higher floors you get a deeper understanding of how this world works. It explores class division and privilege and how different each floor is. Also their is a good deal of diversity which I love to see in books.
I am excited for the sequel. I am ready for a sequel but I feel that the sequel is not needed. I have already pre-ordered the sequel and got an email yesterday that it was coming so I am excited.
Well I hope you enjoyed this blog. Please like and comment if you have read it. I you haven’t tell me if you are going to.
So I have really nothing planned for this month. This whole already having posts ready to go, really doesn’t help me when it comes to writing these because I just don’t remember to write more. Basically, I have nothing planned for the month.
I have a few reviews coming out from more books I still have to review from my hiatus.
I want to write some discussion posts but I have no clue what to write about so if anyone has any suggestions please comment below.
I did not finish my TBR for last month so that is being continued up into this month.
Basically this month is going to be a crap show and ya’ll are gonna have to sit through it and deal with it. Posts probably wont come every day but I will try…Any posts I do write will most likely be like this one, rushed, short, and done the night before.
But hey it is October and you know what that means:
HALLOWEEN!!
and
RIVERDALE
and
STRANGER THINGS 2
and
CANDY
and
OTHER OCTOBER THINGS
What I can say is that I shall be giving reviews on Riverdale and Stranger Things. I may give post about my Halloween plans or parties that may happen. I don’t know if that would end up in this month though. I can tell you I shall be doing some fall favorites. I can tell you this because that will be my post for tomorrow because it is simple and easy.
Anyways this is all I can give you for this preview. I know this post sucks, do not judge me. I am doing the best I can with the schedule I have.

“The Odyssey, Homer’s best-loved poem, recounting Odysseus’ wanderings after the Trojan War. With wit and wile, the ‘man of twists and turns’ meets the challenges of the sea-god Poseidon, and monsters ranging from the many-headed Scylla to the cannibalistic Cyclops Polyphemus – only to return after twenty years to a home besieged by his wife Penelope’s suitors. In the myths and legends retold in this immortal poem, Fagles has captured the energy of Homer’s original in a bold, contemporary idiom.” -Goodreads
My review:
I always believe school books are going to be good….
Well as you can probably infer, I did not like yet another school book. Again I don’t know if it was the pressure and the fact that I was being forced to read this book super fast and not take the time to fully understand it or if it was that it was a bad book. I think my age makes me hate the book. I don’t know many people my age who enjoy that book. I think I am to into very fantastical books so these classical books about life and teaching you lessons don’t thrill me as much as I hoped they would. I know this story is more fantastical than any of the other classics out there and maybe that is why I liked it better then some of the ones I have read. But this book predates all the classics. Its language was super hard to read. I don’t know who wrote the translation I read but it was very confusing. Maybe another translation will be good enough.
So I love mythology and creatures like satyrs and the Minotaur etc, so I enjoyed that part about this book. I liked seeing how people lived in another time period. It was interesting to see the different ways people lived and what they believed back when this story originated. I loved learning about gods and other legends and myths during this unit in school. It helped me understand the story more.
Odysseus was a pretty cool character. I didn’t get to see much of him until near the middle even though the story revolves around him. I loved how he was really set on getting home and he kept fighting to get there. He wasn’t all to loyal to his wife but the road to hell was paved with good intentions. I mean he really had no choice when you’re trapped on an island with someone and you don’t think anyone is gonna save you. Telemachus was pretty cool to. He had a lot of trust in his dad. He never even met the guy and he sets off to try and find out if he is alive. Penelope is the most loyal of them all and she never marries anyone and waits for her long lost husband to come hope. Athena a.k.a Athene is super awesome in helping Odysseus get home.
The plot was good I guess. It just was so much packed in to so little. The descriptions of places were long and sort of dull but then the action came out to descriptive for how fast paced it went.
As I review this I see that is wasn’t a terrible story but I just didn’t get into it like I felt like I wanted to.
Well, thank you for reading another one of my short school book reviews. I know these probably aren’t as entertaining as the rest of my reviews but I would feel weird not giving you guys all my opinions on all the books I read.
Thanks for read. Tell me what you thought of this book.

Anyways thanks for reading this. I didn’t link the book’s Goodreads because I am very lazy. I want to tag the pages so you can put them on your to-read list but I just aint feeling it today.
Thanks for reading!
Have you read any of these? What is your favorite on this list?
My six month long hiatus is over and let me just say, it feels good to be back. I am super excited to be back and writing again. The break sucked and I couldn’t wait to get back to the blog.
I first wanna start this off with saying hello to all my new followers. I saw I gained a few even though I wasn’t on the blog anymore so welcome.
Next, I have huge things planned for this blog. Starting next Monday I shall be posting every weekday, allowing myself some time on the weekends to write. I will try as hard as I can to get 1-2 book reviews out. I think since I already have over ten reviews in my drafts right now there will be no problem doing so. I also want to post more tags and discussion blog posts so stayed tuned to that.
I cannot wait to get back onto the blog. It will be so much more organized with regular posts unlike back in my first six months of doing this.
Anyways now for my September preview:
So now that I am back I am going to keep a calendar of blog posts that I shall be posting. I have mostly gotten all the blogs for this month done except for three. I am sorry if those don’t go up on the days that they said they were. I am not very good at writing discussion posts but I am trying them out this month. Anyways here you go:
As you can see I have a busy schedule ahead of me but thankfully those posts are all done except for three.
Reading goal:
3 books
I want to read at least three books this month. It is gonna be hard but I have recently come across audio books and started to enjoy them so my car rides shall be better.
As I write this blog, I am listening to A Work in Progress. It is already so good. I am gonna get these little reading goals finished. All the other goals I had were never finished. So this time I am trying to do this better. NONSTOP READING!!!!!!!!!
I am excited to start this blogging journey again. I hope you guys enjoy what I am gonna put out for you this month and for all the months to come.
I am excited to be doing this meme. I love making lists and doing these tag type things. I am finally getting less busy so I hope to be participating in this almost every week. I am taking this tag as books I wish I owned so to start this tag here are the ten books I wish I had:
I know that most of these pictures only have some of the author’s books or few books in the series but it is what I get for looking up these pics on the internet. The link should show what books I want. I have read half these books and I have wanted to read the rest of these books. I want all the John Green books because I love them all. I want to have them for my re-reading. I want the Mortal Instruments series because I read the first book and never got around to reading the others because of other books and if I had them on my shelf I think I would get them done. The Outlander series is my favorite book tuber’s, Sasha Alsberg, favorite book series and I like a lot of books she likes so I want to read it. Also I want to get Zenith when it come out because Sasha Alsberg duh… I want EoS and ACOMAF because Sarah J Maas and I love the Throne of Glass series so far and I will get around to reading ACOTAR soon. I love the Maze Runner series because it was literally one of my favorite series in the world. Rainbow Rowell is my queen. I just recently bought Eleanor and Park and Fangirl. They improve my bookshelf so much. I love the sweet and simple covers. I wanted Caraval because everyone seems to love it. I also wanted the Lunar chronicles because I fell in love with Marissa Meyers after reading the book Heartless by her.
I had a lot of fun doing this tag. I hoped you guys liked seeing my top ten Tuesday. Go do it for yourself the link to the blog who started this meme and their top ten Tuesday post is up at the top. Thanks for reading!
I am finally doing my February TBR. I was super bus this weekend and I have no clue why I didn’t do it yesterday because I had a day off of school because of the foot of snow we received. I am now a week into February and have not finished a book or wrote this post but I guess better late than never. So let’s start.
This month I plan on reading 4 books. Last month i read five but two of the books I planned on reading I didn’t finish so I will read those two and hopefully finish them. Here is my TBR for February:
These two books I started last month and it has taken me forever to finish them and I am still not done with them I don’t know why I have read like a little every day. I guess I need to just sit down and read.
Great Expectations is for school and I don’t really know if I like it yet and it is super long so I don’t know if I will be able to finish it by the end of the month or what our reading schedule is so this is just an extra book just to incase.
So those are all the books I am reading. I am glad I have finally got this post done. I have been worried about finishing it. After I post this I am going to try and read Passenger to try and make a dent before school starts today. Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Thanks for reading!
I am so happy with this month except for how fast it flew by. I got all my finals done whihc delayed my reading so i didn’t read everything I wanted to read but I did however meet other goals. One of my goals was to make the photo you’ll see throughout this post and on my featured image. I have been meaning to make this to give a little flare to my blog.
Rhis month was a busy month for me and so will February but I have a better outlook going into the next monththan I did going into this month. I only set a goal to read three books this month, those books being Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, and Passenger. while I only read two of those books on that list I did read 5 books this month. I am very happy and impressed with myself. The books I read were:
Go check out those blog posts and give them some love. I work really hard on them.
Now I put this one last because I bought ALOT of books this month. I had lots of Christmas money so I decided I would buy books with all of that money. so here is the long list of book bought:
As you can see that is alot of books to buy in one month. I was so excited and still am to have gotten all those books. The wait for all of them was excruciating though. I think I may have an addiction to buying books. But they make my book shelf look even more pretty.
That is all for this months wrap-up. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have. I will have my TBR up by tomorrow (hopefully) so you can see what books I plan to read in February. Thanks for reading. Please like and comment below!!!!
What books did you read? Did you read any boooks that I read? What books did you buy?
