“After cheating death, Veronica Welling is determined to savor every moment in her idyllic kingdom with both her true love and best friend by her side at last. At the same time, Mackenna Reid is enthusiastically building her new life and a theater with her prince. But just as their dreams of happiness are within reach, the world Vee and Kenna have chosen is ripped away, leaving them to face their most horrific challenge yet—their old lives.
Thrust out of Doon, the best friends are confronted with tormentors from their past and no way to return to their adopted land. When the MacCrae brothers rush to their rescue, the girls’ situation turns from nightmare to modern-day fairy tale. But their happiness could be short lived: unbeknownst to them, someone in their closest circle is aiding the witch of Doon in her bid to destroy the kingdom once and for all.” –Goodreads
Review:
Can Carey and Lorie just let me live? Like honestly this third book had literally killed me. This series is amazing and I think I have a love for Scotland and kilts.
While reading I was hooked. I could not stop reading. The book was non stop suspense and action with a mix of dull moments not to tire you out. The girls had so many emotions going through me. The story was great but there were somethings I didn’t like. The last book left you in a big cliff hanger but then this story picked up a week or two or something longer with everything just fine. They didn’t explain anything for awhile which bugged me and they just shoved the cliffhanger aside as a side note. They also would have had a way better more enticing end to their story if they would not have included their epilogue. It just kind of made it not as suspenseful. The big event at the end led to some plot twist type things that just get chopped and untwisted at the epilogue which I found a bad idea. Other than that the story was great and I really loved it.
I am a big romance fan and this story is fantastic. The boys Duncan and Jaime are literal gods. They are such romantics. The love in this book is intoxicating but not overpowering.
Shades of Doon was amazing. Unlike the second book in the series it had an importance to it. I loved this book and cannot wait to read the fourth and final book.
