Here is Another Book Haul

Hi,

I have bought more books. I know that it is very unsurprising. What is surprising is that I only bought two.

So here they are:

A Magic Stepped in Poison by Judy I. Lin

I used to look at my hands with pride. Now all I can think is, “These are the hands that buried my mother.”

For Ning, the only thing worse than losing her mother is knowing that it’s her own fault. She was the one who unknowingly brewed the poison tea that killed her—the poison tea that now threatens to also take her sister, Shu.

When Ning hears of a competition to find the kingdom’s greatest shennong-shi—masters of the ancient and magical art of tea-making—she travels to the imperial city to compete. The winner will receive a favor from the princess, which may be Ning’s only chance to save her sister’s life.

But between the backstabbing competitors, bloody court politics, and a mysterious (and handsome) boy with a shocking secret, Ning might actually be the one in more danger.” -Goodreads

My Policeman by Bethan Robertson

“It is in 1950’s Brighton that Marion first catches sight of Tom. He teaches her to swim, gently guiding her through the water in the shadow of the city’s famous pier and Marion is smitten–determined her love alone will be enough for them both. A few years later near the Brighton Museum, Patrick meets Tom. Patrick is besotted, and opens Tom’s eyes to a glamorous, sophisticated new world of art, travel, and beauty. Tom is their policeman, and in this age it is safer for him to marry Marion and meet Patrick in secret. The two lovers must share him, until one of them breaks and three lives are destroyed.

In this evocative portrait of midcentury England, Bethan Roberts reimagines the real life relationship the novelist E. M. Forster had with a policeman, Bob Buckingham, and his wife. My Policeman is a deeply heartfelt story of love’s passionate endurance, and the devastation wrought by a repressive society.” -Goodreads

I picked up the first because of a Barnes and Noble email, and the second was because there is going to be a movie about this book.

As always, thanks for reading,

Book Haul

Alas, my post-Christmas book buying ban has ended. I wanted it to last another month, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy these books.

I had gift cards and I wanted to buy a Barnes and Nobles membership, so I bought four books and a membership last week.

The first book I bought, I finished reading last week and I was amazed. I just posted a review of that book so go check it out. I also bought the author’s other two books. I am also very excited to be getting the last book since I am trying to have a more diverse bookshelf.

The books I bought are:

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

“All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.

Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.” –Goodreads

Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson

“The dead of Loraille do not rest.

Artemisia is training to be a Gray Sister, a nun who cleanses the bodies of the deceased so that their souls can pass on; otherwise, they will rise as spirits with a ravenous hunger for the living. She would rather deal with the dead than the living, who trade whispers about her scarred hands and troubled past.

When her convent is attacked by possessed soldiers, Artemisia defends it by awakening an ancient spirit bound to a saint’s relic. It is a revenant, a malevolent being that threatens to possess her the moment she drops her guard. Wielding its extraordinary power almost consumes her—but death has come to Loraille, and only a vespertine, a priestess trained to wield a high relic, has any chance of stopping it. With all knowledge of vespertines lost to time, Artemisia turns to the last remaining expert for help: the revenant itself.

As she unravels a sinister mystery of saints, secrets, and dark magic, her bond with the revenant grows. And when a hidden evil begins to surface, she discovers that facing this enemy might require her to betray everything she has been taught to believe—if the revenant doesn’t betray her first.” -Goodreads

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Every enchantment has a price.

With a flick of her paintbrush, Isobel creates stunning portraits for a dangerous set of clients: the fair folk. These immortal creatures cannot bake bread or put a pen to paper without crumbling to dust. They crave human Craft with a terrible thirst, and they trade valuable enchantments for Isobel’s paintings. But when she receives her first royal patron—Rook, the autumn prince—Isobel makes a deadly mistake. She paints mortal sorrow in his eyes, a weakness that could cost him his throne, and even his life.

Furious, Rook spirits Isobel away to his kingdom to stand trial for her crime. But something is seriously amiss in his world, and they are attacked from every side. With Isobel and Rook depending upon each other for survival, their alliance blossoms into trust, perhaps even love . . . a forbidden emotion that would violate the fair folks’ ruthless laws, rendering both their lives forfeit. What force could Isobel’s paintings conjure that is powerful enough to defy the ancient malice of the fairy courts?

Isobel and Rook journey along a knife-edge in a lush world where beauty masks corruption and the cost of survival might be more frightening than death itself.” –Goodreads

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

“After her mother dies in an accident, sixteen-year-old Bree Matthews wants nothing to do with her family memories or childhood home. A residential program for bright high schoolers at UNC–Chapel Hill seems like the perfect escape—until Bree witnesses a magical attack her very first night on campus.

A flying demon feeding on human energies.

A secret society of so called “Legendborn” students that hunt the creatures down.

And a mysterious teenage mage who calls himself a “Merlin” and who attempts—and fails—to wipe Bree’s memory of everything she saw.

The mage’s failure unlocks Bree’s own unique magic and a buried memory with a hidden connection: the night her mother died, another Merlin was at the hospital. Now that Bree knows there’s more to her mother’s death than what’s on the police report, she’ll do whatever it takes to find out the truth, even if that means infiltrating the Legendborn as one of their initiates.

She recruits Nick, a self-exiled Legendborn with his own grudge against the group, and their reluctant partnership pulls them deeper into the society’s secrets—and closer to each other. But when the Legendborn reveal themselves as the descendants of King Arthur’s knights and explain that a magical war is coming, Bree has to decide how far she’ll go for the truth and whether she should use her magic to take the society down—or join the fight.” –Goodreads

19 books for $25? My best book haul yet!

Hello bloggers,

How are you guys today?

I am doing great thinking about this book haul from a few weeks ago.

My school is liquidating the book portion of their store so they dropped all of their prices down to about a $1 for every book.

I had to jump on that opportunity (OBVIOUSLY) so here is what I bought:

(I am linking the box set because listing them all seems unnecessary.)

Most of these books I have no clue what the books are about. I got them because I read the synopsis while in the store and they seemed pretty interesting.

I am glad I got the Mortal Instruments series. IT has been one of those series I have never read. I feel like I am missing out. It was only 6 bucks for these 5. I still need to get the first book, but I still got a steal from this deal.

Anyways, I have absolutely no more shelf space so hopefully, I can read through a few more books this month so they do not sit on my floor like they currently are.

As always, thanks for reading,

New Book: A Veil of Truth and Trickery

Hey guys!

I spend WAYY too much time on TikTok. I am deep into BookTok and get book recommendations all day long.

But the other day, I got about five videos from Analeigh Ford, an author of a new book called A Veil of Truth and Trickery.

I have pre ordered this book because it seem like it is going to be so good!

Here is the cover:

How beautiful is it?

I cannot wait to add this to my shelf.

This is the synopsis:

Delphine has been fae-marked from birth, treated as a curse despite the fact the once treacherous fae haven’t been sighted in decades—in fact, no one in Delph’s village has laid eyes on one of the folk in nearly a century.

Right up until a fae turns up on her doorstep, demanding Delph as down payment.

No sooner has she set foot in the fae realm, however, then she learns she’s no mere collateral in a deal made with the lord that owns her family lands. She was selected for a reason, hunted down for a single purpose.

The fae courts are fading. The folk disappearing.

Only four courts remain. Four princes determined to save their crumbling kingdoms.

And Delph … Delph may just hold the key to save them all.

But even as Delph learns to see past the feared glamour of the fae realm, she quickly learns the impossible position she’s found herself in. The fae may not be the monsters she was led to believe, but in order to save them … she may have to become a monster herself.” -Reverse Harem Author Website

It seems really entertaining.

I think that it is similar to Sarah J. Maas’ ACOTAR series. But it will be interesting to see the differences.

I preordered using this link and I got the signed hardcover. When you buy the signed hardcover, you also get the eBook format a few days before the hardcover goes out.

I am usually not good at keeping track of books coming out but this I am ready for.

Cant wait to see what you made Analeigh Ford! (Here is the link to her TikTok where she posts really fun videos on it!)

As always, thanks for reading,

Monday Book Haul

Hey guys!

I recently got a Visa gift card from my grandpa. I had no clue what to buy with it but my mom kept saying I should buy groceries and gas.

Well mother is going to be disappointed because guess what I spent it on…

BOOKS

Tehe

I just ordered them five minutes before I posted this.

I consider each book I buy an investment because one day I would like a huge library so, every book I buy goes toward that goal.

I purchased them from the Strand in New York because they are my favorite bookstore in the world. I was going to buy them from a local bookstore in the town where I live, but I did not want to talk to the guy who owned the store. People have told me he is weird and talks too much. I am too anxious to talk to anyone.

So here are the books I bought:

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Finale by Stephanie Garber

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I am so excited for these to come!

I got them all in hardcover so they were all a hefty sum, but I wanted them. I already have Caraval in hardcover. And I plan on getting all of the Grishaverse books in hardcover.

Let me know what books you guys got recently.

As always, thanks for reading,

January 2017 Wrap-Up

Hey guys guess what!

Its time for another monthly wrap-up.

I am so happy with this month except for how fast it flew by. I got all my finals done whihc delayed my reading so i didn’t read everything I wanted to read but I did however meet other goals. One of my goals was to make the photo you’ll see throughout this post and on my featured image. I have been meaning to make this to give a little flare to my blog.

books-i-read

Rhis month was a busy month for me and so will February but I have a better outlook going into the next monththan I did going into this month. I only set a goal to read three books this month, those books being Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, and Passenger. while I only read two of those books on that list I did read 5 books this month. I am very happy and impressed with myself. The books I read were:

28686840

92517

20613470

18584855

23513349

Most of these books were amazing. I loved almost all of them. go check out my reviews which are linked above to see my opinions on each book.

posts-this-month

This month I posted a little but that is usually how I roll so here are my posts from this month:

and the glorious post you are on right now.

Go check out those blog posts and give them some love. I work really hard on them.

books-i-bought

Now I put this one last because I bought ALOT of books this month. I had lots of Christmas money so I decided I would buy books with all of that money. so here is the long list of book  bought:

511iszrvycl-_sx326_bo1204203200_

27779008

16096824

18243700

16068905

15745753

27774758

20983366

26836910

23395680

29236299

24921954

23299512

As you can see that is alot of books to buy in one month. I was so excited and still am to have gotten all those books. The wait for all of them was excruciating though. I think I may have an addiction to buying books. But they make my book shelf look even more pretty.

That is all for this months wrap-up. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have. I will have my TBR up by tomorrow (hopefully) so you can see what books I plan to read in February. Thanks for reading. Please like and comment below!!!!

What books did you read? Did you read any boooks that I read? What books did you buy?

Book Buy of December

I really think I like to keep my bank account as low as possible…

I have done it again. I bought a book this month which I swore I wouldn’t do because it’s Christmas and people can buy my books for me. I feel ashamed.

Anyways so the book I bought was Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. People have been gushing about this book. I bought it from Half Price Books Online. I wanted to get this book because I want to get caught up so I can get Wayfarer its sequel when it comes out in January. This is the cover of the book:

20983362

HOW GREAT DOES THAT LOOK! Ugh, I am very influenced by appealing book covers.

Also, read this synopsis:

“In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles but years from home. And she’s inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she’s never heard of. Until now.

Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods—a powerful family in the colonies—and the servitude he’s known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can’t escape and the family that won’t let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, Nicholas’ passenger, can find. In order to protect her, he must ensure she brings it back to them—whether she wants to or not.

Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods’ grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home… forever.” -Goodreads

That just sounds epic right? I am excited to read this book.

November Wrap Up and October TBR

I did it. I have finally finished my TBR list for a month. I read four books this month which were:
