“The story of a mother, her son, and daughter, and her daughter’s suitor that brings to life human beings who cling to a dream world that can so easily be shattered into jagged pieces.” -Goodreads
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, bloggers get a topic for a list of ten things based on the topic. This weeks topic is:
Top Ten 2016 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To (But TOTALLY plan to)
This is my first Top Ten Tuesday and I am super excited to be doing this so let’s get started.
I would have loved to have read all of these books but I just never got the chance and I am super upset I didn’t. I will hopefully read these this year.
Thanks for reading! I had a lot of fun participating in this Top Ten Tuesday thing. I hope I can do more in the future.
“Everyone thinks they know Libby Strout, the girl once dubbed “America’s Fattest Teen.” But no one’s taken the time to look past her weight to get to know who she really is. Following her mom’s death, she’s been picking up the pieces in the privacy of her home, dealing with her heartbroken father and her own grief. Now, Libby’s ready: for high school, for new friends, for love, and for every possibility life has to offer. In that moment, I know the part I want to play here at MVB High. I want to be the girl who can do anything.
Everyone thinks they know Jack Masselin, too. Yes, he’s got swagger, but he’s also mastered the impossible art of giving people what they want, of fitting in. What no one knows is that Jack has a newly acquired secret: he can’t recognize faces. Even his own brothers are strangers to him. He’s the guy who can re-engineer and rebuild anything, but he can’t understand what’s going on with the inner workings of his brain. So he tells himself to play it cool: Be charming. Be hilarious. Don’t get too close to anyone.
Until he meets Libby. When the two get tangled up in a cruel high school game—which lands them in group counseling and community service—Libby and Jack are both pissed, and then surprised. Because the more time they spend together, the less alone they feel. Because sometimes when you meet someone, it changes the world, theirs and yours.” –Goodreads
It is now the beginning of a month, the beginning of a year, and that means it is time for a new TBR list. I am excited about my options for books this month. I have lots of books to read but I am only gonna choose three. I have decided for this month to read:
I choose these books to read because first off I love love love the Throne of Glass series. I seriously cannot get enough of it. I don’t know how I am going to sleep while I have these books to read. I choose Passenger because I want to be ready for the release of Wayfarer.
This month I am making a goal to buy one book. I will probably buy both just because that is how I am but I want to get:
I will probably buy two books milk and honey and then one of the other ones. I probably will not get to Forever Doon this month but I really need to finish that series. I really have the worst habit of leaving series unfinished because I never can get the next book.
Thank ya’ll for reading. Tell me down below what books you want to read this month and if you have any books you are planning to buy.
Hey, guys so it is the start of a new year and the start of new goals. I for one have many reading/bookish type goals for this year. I don’t want this to be too long of a post so I will just list my bookish goals for 2017:
Read 40 books
Buy at least one book a month
Try and keep it to ONE book a month
Don’t start reading two o more books at once because it only slows me down
Read at least three books a month
Take some pictures of every book you read for Bookstagram
Participate in book and photo challenges
Get your TBR list under control
Read new genres of books you’ve never read before
Those are my goals for 2017. I will try my hardest to achieve them all. I am suoer excited for 2017.
As the New Year approaches, this last year is coming to a close. It is almost hard to believe it has been a year already since last New Years Eve. I have decided to combine my December and 2016 wrap-up together because I don’t want to have five different posts coming out in the next two days and I am also extremely lazy.
So, to start with my December wrap up I think congratulations are in order to yours truly because I actually finished and went above and beyond my reading goal for this month. Not only did I read the two books I had planned to read this month but I also read four other books. That means 6 books total. And it may seem like I am tooting my own horn and I really am but I am very impressed with myself for reading this much this month. I would love to continue that streak but I probably won’t. Anyways so these are the books I read this month:
Click on the titles to go read my reviews on these stories which all of them were AMAZING. I found them to be really great reads and a few of them have made it onto my top reads of 2016 that will be listed later.
Apart from what I have read this month, I have also bought three books. My Book Buy of December has only one of the books I bought which I got in the mail a day ago and it was a little Christmas present for myself. After Christmas, I bought two books with my Christmas money that I have wanted since I went to Target and saw them on the shelf. the books I bought this month are:
I am super excited to read them and to be able to own those beautiful books.
Now for the moment you have all been waiting for…or haven’t been waiting for…if it isn’t why are you even reading this?..
My 2016 Wrap-Up
I read 37 books this year and my goal was 30 books so I surpassed my goal. I am super happy I achieved that because I haven’t read very much the past few years so this year has been a changing point for me. I really have this blog to thank which I started on August 26th this year. This blog has mad eme want to write reviews and for that, I need to read. I am excited to see how many I read next year. If you want to see every book I read this year click here to see my reading challenge on Goodreads. I don’t have blog posts for all of my favorite books so I will link all these to their Goodreads.
These books were flipping amazing and you can find all but the first four reviewed in my blog. I seriously loved these books. I am very happy with how my reading year turned out.
Now with the end of this post comes the end of 2016 for this blog. This shall be my last blog post of 2016 and I am excited to continue with this blog into the next year. I think this year has been a good year for me. I have a lot of good memories from this year and I hope to make much more in 2017. So with that, I bid adieu to 2016 and bonjour to the New Year.
“From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.” -Goodreads
“After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her … but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead … quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined. -Goodreads

What book are you currently reading?
The Fever Code by James Dashner and Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. technically I haven’t started Crown of Midnight yet but I am planning on starting tonight or tomorrow. The Fever Code I am enjoying. I kind of want to be finished with the MazeRunner series so I am kind of rushing through the story but I really like it so far.
What’s the last book you finished?
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. This story was fan-freakin-tastic. I loved it immensely. I am slowly writing my review for it but as soon as I get it up I will link it here. This was a fantastic read and I saw why so many people were freaking out about it. i cannot wait to read the others.
Favorite book you read this year?
How can I choose? Probably Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne or The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. I Love love LOVED these books. I could rant for hours about these books but you should just go read my reviews of them. To read my review of The Sun is Also a Star click here. And for HP & the Cursed Child click here.
What genre have you read most this year?
I think Contemporary novels are what I have read mostly. These are a few of the contemporary (I think) books I read this year.
Honestly, I have no clue what I have read least but I guess I read one memoir type book so nonfiction and tried to read others but I didn’t like the others. The one non-fiction book I read was Everyday Sexism by Laura Bates. It was amazing and opened my eyes to a lot of things about sexism. I think everyone all genders should read this story. The things people wrote in the book and the statistics shown really open your eyes to so many problems.
What genre do you want to read more of?
I want to read more fantasy books. this year I have mostly read contemporary novels or classic novels in school and I have just finished Throne of Glass so I want to read those books and then more stories by Maas and other fantasy authors.
How many books have you read this year, and what’s your goal?
My goal of books was originally 50 but then I lowered it to 30 half way through the year because at that point I had only read like 5 books because of how busy I was with school. I am currently at 35 books this year.
What’s the last book you bought?
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. I ordered it like three days ago and as I said in my Book Buy of the Month of December, I love to spend money. I bought it because I want to read Wayfarer when it gets out and they both sound totally awesome. I am super excited for it to come in the mail.
What book are you saving up to buy next?
Can I say all of them? No, I’m just kidding but today in Target I saw Illuminae and Gemina by Anna Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and OH MY GOSH THEIR COVERS WERE AMAZING. I like instantly fell in love and i would have bought them but I am gonna check out Half Price Books for them any cheaper. They were so beautiful and the top of my TBR list.
How many books did you check out last library visit?
I only checked out one book and that was The Fever Code by James Dashner which is my current read from up above. I usually only check out one or two.
What’s a book you can’t wait to read?
I cannot wait to read the Illuminae or Gemina by Anna Kaufman and Jay Kristoff as I said two questions ago. I also cannot wait to read Passenger and Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken. I also can’t wait to start the Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas which I will start reading as soon as I am done with this post.
What’s a series you’d recommend to everyone?
A series I would recommend to everyone is the Harry Potter series. I mean duh. But other than HP I would recommend the Throne of Glass series to anyone. It is really great. I am having a great time reading them so far.
Who’s an author you’re hoping writes more?
I am hoping JK Rowling/Robert Galbraith write more because I absolutely love her. She has written my favorite series and she has written under Roberts name a fabulous mystery series, the Comoran Strike novels, which I am DYING for more. I also want JK Rowling to write more because I love how she writes and I would love for more Wizarding World stuff.
I don’t really have an answer to this one. I know Wayfarer is the last of the series for Passenger but I haven’t read Passenger so I don’t know if I will be upset over it’s ending. Also, the sixth Throne of Glass book is coming and that sucks cause I am really liking this series so far.
This list goes on for miles so I am not going to bore you with any more of that list.
