“This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.” -Goodreads

My Review:

Okay before I start this blog just look at this book summary by Jay Kristoff. It is excellent and entertaining. I just wanted to share it.

So first off, WHAT?!?!

How was this book made? Who thought of this? Do the authors want to kill me?

This story was a spectacular story. It was just the right amount if intense mixed with the right amount of comedy and of course the right amount of romance.

This book was such a quick read. The way it was formatted made it so you could fly through the story. The way it was written was epic. For those of you who don’t know it is made in a series of government files, interviews, security surveillance footage, etc. I don’t understand how they made this though. I just love every detail they put into the work. This really makes the story stand out and you can just see how unique this story is. Visually, this story was beautiful.

Let’s talk about plot. So what is with all the plot twists? There were so many twists and turns I felt like I was flopping around like a fish by the end. Kristoff and Kaufman made me feel so many emotions. I was basically like this the entire time:

I love plot twists are the best things ever.

Not only was their a war but there was also an evil AI system AND a creepy plague. A lot of the times it is hard for authors to have multiple conflicts and multiple story lines but these two worked so well together and really made this story amazing. Beginning of the story was slow but it built up in to a great action packed story.

Although I love this book I have to admit that the characters are dull. They are normal people. Most authors create stunning characters. The only things that were really different about the characters and a normal teenagers was Kady’s pink hair and the fact that they lived on a different planet.

I want to say so much because it was just an outstanding book but then I would spoil everything. So I ain’t gonna. Just go read the book.

I know this was super short but as I am writing this it has been three months since I read it and I just want to end this blog post so I can talk about the next story in the series Gemina which go check out my review for that book please.

Anyways thank you so much for reading.

Star Rating: 4.7

Have you read it? Did you like it? Did you hate it? What was your favorite part?

  1. Great review! I totally agree with you! Even though the book was quite large, it didn’t feel that way at all. From the format to all those crazy plot twists, it really made quite a quick read. 😊
