Review:

I don’t think a book has ever held me so captivated like this book. I mean I stayed up till 1:30 in the morning to finish this book. I mean I think I read about 300-400 pages yesterday.

I can’t even think of where to go from here. This book was just so amazing. I don’t want to read ever again because I want to believe that all books are only this good. But I got the rest of the series to finish and a bunch of books I bought so I have to read more but I really would be content not having to.

So to jump into the actual review, let us talk about the story. While the first few pages were dull and I remember reading them and putting it down to do something else because I was so upset because I just had come off Crown of Midnight (click to see my review) and I was so hyped after that. Then those few first pages were kind of a downer. But then I started reading and instantly got better. I mean so good that I read 300-400 pages in one day because of the action and the amazingness of the story.

“You cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love.”

This quote is so true about this book because like I couldn’t just like one single part of the story. I love everything. I am going to be completely honest I cried over this book. Like not just sad tear or happy tears which were most of my crying but sometimes I just cried because of how she kept me so captivated and how good her writing is. I think I have a problem. Her books are like drugs. I cannot get enough of them. I am honestly scared that once all the Throne of Glass books are over I will be left with nothing and I will fall into a deep deep deep reading slump for centuries. I loved so much about this book. I devoured it.

I really want to talk about one thing that I really loved about this story. It needs its own paragraph it is just that important. So in the story like all the others there are different POV’s and I always think Maas does a fantastic job of never getting anyone confused mostly because her writing for each character is so different (and I think that is so epic) and she usually says like the name of the person in the first sentence. But this book…WAS FLIPPING FANTASTIC. Like she writes where you are left with a little bit of a cliff hanger till she skips to the next person but not a terrible cliffhanger that you are hating to be switched. She usually gives you as much as you need so you can contently go to the next person. Say it’s on Celeana’s perspective and then it goes to Chaol’s perspective. She usually gives you a cliffhanger on Celeana’s and then you go to Chaol which in the last chapter with his POV he has also had a cliffhanger so you really wanna read him to so you aren’t disappointed in switching but you want to read to get to Celeana’s. If you don’t get what I mean then I guess you will just have to go read the book then. *insert winky face*

Now to talk about something I have feared writing about because I don’t think I can stop. Characters. So the normal gang of Celeana, Dorian, and Chaol were there and all I shall say about them I that they are amazing and Maas took them in incredible directions and I cannot wait to see where they all go from here. Celeana had tremendous growth and such an incredible path. Dorian has never made me so happy and swoony over him and his new partner. Chaol is still as tough as ever and I think he reveals more to readers more than in the last few books and somethings I don’t agree with. Well I guess I have written a paragraph on the usual suspects so the new ones will be in the next paragraph. I told myself I was gonna make this short but I guess not…

So I usually am not a big fan of new characters whether it’s in books, movies, TV shows, etc. but THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING. First up I will talk about Sorscha because I want to talk about her as little as possible because one spoiler and it will not end well for me to talk about her. I think she would be amazing to meet. I think she was this sweetheart who did nothing wrong and helped when she was most desperately needed. Dorian and her all the way. Next, I want to talk about is Aedion. He is Aelin’s cousin and he has this unyielding loyalty to her. Even though she became who she is today he still loves her and would give anything to see her for just once. He feels terrible that he is Adarlan’s Whore and what has been said he has done because he has dishonored his people. I find him interesting because everyone else is so confused about who and what they serve while he has always known where his path lies; to protect Aelin.

Another paragraph for another character which is the witch who shows up bewitching us all with her witchy charm. Which witch you may be asking (oh I had too much fun with that) but the stunning Manon Blackbeak. Honestly, she and Rowan are my two favorite characters other than the usual suspects. Manon is so epic. I would love to be part of her Thirteen. she was this epic storyline and though she and her plot line never interact with any of the others storylines she plays this important part. I think what I love most about her storyline is the wyverns. I absolutely love dragons and dragon riding is something I have always wanted to do and I so wish they were real. Manon is an amazing character who learns about herself during the story.

Now for my most favorite topic: Rowan. Dreamy, dreamy, dreamy Rowan. Rowan, I imagine as someone a little tan but his hair is white like described. He has muscles and tattoos wrapped all around him. I shipped Celeana and Rowan together instantly. I didn’t care about anything else except them together which doesn’t really happen but I still think it could happen. For the past day, I have been looking at Rowan fanart and I am so impressed. Everyone can draw so well. I thought many of them captured what I envisioned perfectly. but it isn’t all about looks. Rowan is this epically epic character who is fae and is the first Fae Celeana has encountered in a very long time. He is this strict and quiet warrior. He is just my favorite. I honestly don’t know what I would do without Rowan in this story. He makes this story so much more awesome.

I told you I wouldn’t be able to stop talking about characters.

Though much is left unsaid about the characters I will refrain from anymore because of the longevity of this post. I shall also conclude my post here. I feel like everyone should read this especially after you read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. I am so happy that everyone bookstore and that actuality of me having some money to buy these books encouraged me to buy and read these books. I am so in love with them and the are fighting and seemingly winning the spot to be my favorite series. Sorry HP but Celeana Sardothien is coming to town. And with that, I am ending this review and giving this book a perfect score.
